Orthodontics are applied by dentists who specialize in the work of orthodontics, which are carried out after a study ranging from 4 to 6 years.

What problems are addressed by orthodontics?

  • Crooked or wrapped teeth inside.
  • When there are spaces and spaces between the teeth.
  • Tight jaws, or abnormal closing of the mouth.
  • The lower jaw falls in front of the upper jaw.
  • Shut the open jaw from the front and back.
  • Buried teeth.
  • Incomplete teeth.
  • Preparation for dental implants through natural dental treatment.

Orthodontic types

  • Traditional metal:

The most common type of orthodontics, a fully metal calendar, the least expensive calendar among other types, and the lowest application duration among other calendar types.

  • Ceramic orthodontics:

The most prominent feature of this type of orthodontics is that the dental bras are made of ceramic material in a transparent color to take the color of the teeth, but the wires used in it are metal or light material also take the color of the teeth.

Because of its distinctive color, this type of calendar is not easily observable, but its cost is high and should be well cleaned so that it does not change color.

  • Internal (linguistic) orthodontics:

This type is completely hidden behind the teeth, so it is one of the most preferred types, as the dental straps are installed from the inner face of the tooth so that they are invisible, and the metal wire passes from behind the teeth also through these suspenders. The internal orthodontics are not suitable for all cases, are difficult to fully clean, are high-priced and take a long time to achieve the desired results.

  • Invisalign:

This type of orthodontic consists of a set of transparent molds, which are specifically designed for each case, where it is designed after the doctor takes dental measurements and radial image, usually consisting of about 18-30 different molds, where the patient changes the molds every two weeks according to the sequence specified by the doctor for these templates. Transparent orthodontics are not suitable for all cases, are expensive and take too long to achieve their desired goals.

How long is expected for orthodontics?

Before answering this question, we must set a few criteria that contribute to estimating the life span of orthodontics and these factors are:

  1. Patient’s age.
  2. The problem he’s experiencing and the calendar has to address.
  3. The type of orthodontics used.
  4. Distance between teeth.
  5. State of teeth, jaw and healthy gums.
  6. Apply your doctor’s instructions by the patient accurately.

In general, however, the approximate duration of orthodontics ranges from 12 to 36 months.

What should the patient do after completing the orthodontics?

When the orthodontics achieve the desired result, the specialist will remove the orthodontic, but the patient must adhere to the implementation of the final stage to get the optimal result, and this stage is the stage of stabilizing the teeth, through a dental stabilizer, which is worn after the removal of the calendar in order to prevent the movement of the teeth and return to their previous place.

Types of dental stabilizers:

Moving toothpick: wearable or removable at any time, often consisting of metal wires or plastic molds.

Fixed tooth stabilizer: the most effective type, it is also hidden where it is installed behind the teeth. In most cases, adults are forced to wear lifelong dental stabilizers to maintain their new dental shape, and the results do not decline and change.
